Six Month Breakthrough Review


At the beginning of 2010 I stepped into my discomfort zone and declare this to be my breakthrough year in MLM. Six months have transpired since that declaration and now is a good time to reassess and course correct publically.

Like most network marketers I found myself in a continual struggle to find viable prospects to share my company’s products and the business opportunity with. And, I am certain I speak for the majority, the other ongoing concern was cash flow. After all, it’s not like we’re in this just for the love of it.

When I declared 2010 to be The Year, although I had a plan, I had no real idea how it was going to take shape or what was going to show up. I’ve been consistently networking locally, emailing my list regularly and working on a lead generating/law of attraction system online. I’m even making friends on MySpace and Facebook. I’ve enrolled in a Law of Attraction class, played Robert Kiyosaki’s Cash Flow game and begun blogging steadily. The nutritional cleanse I’ve done has worked clearing out toxins and helping with my weight loss and I married off my eldest son. Now, with all of that I have enrolled several people into my business and gained a couple of customers.

So, it ‘s going to take stepping up my activities, intensifying the purpose and laser focusing the thought. Six months remain to breakthrough.

Flock, Not Your Ordinary Group of Birds


How many times have you seen these infamous words “check it out”? If you don’t know about the Social Web Browser Flock you might want to check it out! But, really! With over 7.5 million users Flock is doing a lot of thing right.

Flock, originally built on Mozilla Firefox codebase, specializes in providing social networking and Web 2.0 Flock, The Social Web Browserfacilities built into its user interface. What it does is streamline your social networking interactions.

Five Principles of Success


This was passed on to me by master networker Freddy Melero. These 5 Principles of Success are sound advice for both new and old network marketers. You will be miles ahead of yourself by learning and practicing these principles!

As a new distributor, you have joined a winning team that is offering you their experience and insight. The 5 Principles of Success is the time-tested, proven formula for success. This formula came about when a top leader in the direct selling and network marketing industries, connected with and interviewed the top earners in the industry. As a new distributor, he wanted to know what they did to produce their results so he could do it too. Out of those conversations about their daily activities, the 5 Principles of Success were discovered. By following these principles and applying them as a formula you will be following the exact formula that top leaders have followed to go from just a beginner to a top leader. Applying this formula is your key to success.
This is a simple business plan that anyone can follow. Those who do get amazing results!

Focus on SuccessPrinciple #1: Know Where You Are Going

This principle is the foundation on which all the other principles rely to be effective.
Write down your goals on a goal card, carry the goal card with you always and read it throughout the day many times. Visualize/meditate/take quiet time daily to see yourself already in possession of the good you seek, so you actually feel the feelings of already accomplishing it. Sometimes people get caught up in “trying” to make a sale. This only happens when a person doesn’t have a goal they know they are going to reach. Your goal may seem lofty at first, but taking time to visualize and meditate on the “already achievement” of it will instill in you the belief that you will achieve it. You can use the document “SMART GOALS” to assist you in identifying and clearly writing your goals.


Time SpiralsPrinciple #2: Income Producing Activities

Prioritize your time so that you spend time each day talking to people about the business and products and putting them through the system to learn more about the opportunity and/or the product line. Consistency is the MOST important thing. You should know how to have a prospecting conversation (Prospecting Script) or product conversation (Product Script) so that you are confident in your conversation. Develop your ability to confidently talk about the business and products so that you could do it in your sleep. Never lose your edge. It’s better to work 1 hour a day everyday than to cram everything into your day off if you are still working a job as you build your business. Income producing activities are prospecting, talking to potential customers about product, follow-up and signing up new distributors and new customers.
Lead generation is also income producing, but that simply feeds the funnel. You must take time to call and/or talk to prospects to generate sales. Organizing your desk, doing “research” and “getting ready to get ready” will not produce income for you. No amount of intention or desire will get you a result if you don’t follow through with action; the correct actions! Live this business; talk to people about the business. If you truly believe in your success and the opportunity, you’ll feel comfortable sharing it. After all, they deserve the opportunity to live this incredible lifestyle as well!

Self-developmentPrinciple #3: Be A Student of Personal Development
All the top earners are engaged in the study of Personal Development. They read good books. They avoid mass media (TV, newspapers, etc). Choose very carefully what you allow into your mind. Take time everyday with your personal development; journaling, exploring your own limiting beliefs. In addition, fill your mind with the right information. Start a media fast, abstaining from the news, TV, newspapers, radio, etc. Instead, use the time you would normally spend watching TV reading empowering books, listening to Training Calls, using and applying what you’ve learned. You’ll be amazed at the evolution you will experience in your attitude and being simply by eliminating negative influences and replacing them with positive, empowering influences.

Mastermind Principle #4: Mastermind with Leaders
Do everything possible to be in the environment of the Top Income Earners. Many of the leaders in the industry are amazingly gracious with their time and experience. You have a great opportunity to connect with these leaders at live events as well as on live Training Calls. Think about it: where else in the world do you have the opportunity to hang out and learn from self-made millionaires who will share everything they know about creating success? But, it’s up to you to show up. Stick close to your upline Leaders; call them regularly to connect so they know who you are; take full advantage of their knowledge and experience. Nothing will accelerate a person’s evolution into a Top Earner faster than being around the people and environment where that exists.

Leadership Principle #5: Cultivate the Expectation of Leadership in Yourself and Others
Expect success of yourself and others. Put yourself in the position to collect the profit on all products. Talk to your enroller and up-line leaders to gain understanding of the compensation plan; it is designed to reward leadership and to reward it quickly! You know you are going to win, so act as such. Be the Leader, Do What Leaders Do, Have the Results! The Bottom Line is: Since you know you are willing to take the action in Principles #1-4, then you know you are guaranteed the results. You play FULL OUT! Every step that you can take to move yourself in the direction of your goals, you take that step immediately and confidently. And because you expect success of yourself, because YOU are willing to take the actions that successful people take, you expect success and leadership from those you allow on your team. Since you are willing to pay the price of success, you expect others to also be willing to pay the price of success. Cultivate an expectation of their leadership.

The Rules in 2010


We have all heard talk about how the rules today are different.

The Internet goes through metamorphosis every twenty minutes or so. The Rules Are Different... Or are they?People feel they have less time for themselves. Everyone seems to be in a frantic rush afraid they are going to miss something or afraid someone will get ahead of them. Reminds me of when I was a kid and didn’t want to go to sleep at night afraid I’d miss something important. Fact was, I never missed a thing, no one got into my bed ahead of me.

Communications are different. Almost everyone has a cell phone, people are texting while in the shower. Television has reduced the size of the planet to mere moments. There is so much communication and so little real contact.

It may be that the rules are different today because we are missing a sense of belonging, a sense of community. Maybe the rules are no different than they were in 2009, 1999, 1829 or 529 BC.

People still want to be included, acknowledged, respected and loved. People want to know that they are important to someone and needed by others. The nature of being human is the nature of being human.

The techniques and tools of communication maybe modern and different but people (the business we are in, remember) remain the same. And, I for one am thankful for that.

A Healthy Networker Talks to People


A Healthy Networker talks to people, they communicate. They don’t necessarily talk about their business opportunity, but they do talk to people. Regardless of what most gurus will tell you only lead generation can be automated. Eventually, you will have to speak with your prospects, answer any questions they may have and guide them to your sign up page. So, it’s essential to become proficient and comfortable interaction with people.

Talk to people!There are opportunities to talk to people everywhere. You could start a conversation in any cashier line. Talk about something that is common to your situation. Steer away from initially making comments about personal items, clothing, jewelry, etc. Keep it neutral and people will respond. Most people I find are eager to make contact, just afraid to start.

As a networker, you are really in the people business, the communication business. Get to know how people work, their personality types and what they respond to best. Make it a game to see if you can guess their personality type.

Why Did I choose Network Marketing?


I sat with this guy named Tom at a coffee shop back in the late 1970’s. (That’s when a coffee shop was not a Starbucks.) Tom and I worked at the same real estate office and he asked if he could show me something he had been working on. Tom was the top salesman at our office so I thought it had something to do about real estate. Circles

Tom started to draw circles on his pad. We’d been talking for a while so I ordered another cup. The gleam in his eye told me that he really believed in what he was saying. And, I could make a commission on all of the people I brought into the business. The products were used in 99% of the homes in America and people would use up the products and have to order more month after month after month. At that point, I think there was a twinkle in my eye.

It all made so much sense, a light bulb went off. Here was a simple way to have my own business for a very little start up cost and low overhead with unlimited earning potential. I could leverage the work of others and it could work for everyone that worked at it. It leveled the playing field. It was simply brilliant!

Little did I know at the time that this journey would take me into the realm of self-development, marketing, Internet marketing, attraction marketing, the world of meetings and conventions and of self-discovery.

I often wonder if I choose network marketing or did it choose me?

A Pretty Smart Gal


My wife is a pretty smart gal, and you can tell her I said so.

We’ve been friends for longer than we’ve been lovers and we’ve been both of those longer than we’ve been business partners. So, when she got wind of what I was blogging about she jumped in with both feet. Guess who was the first one to get out to network?

She attended an afternoon seminar about social networking in relation to job hunting. Always looking for the pieces of gold in everything we attend she got a nugget at this event.

One always has to work from a context, a basis, even in network marketing. These are the notes she came back with… along with 4 business cards:

Express appreciation.
Be inspired and inspire others.
Stay connected with people in your life.

From the comfort of your home, be able to reach out in appreciation and inspiration, for love and friendship within a moments notice as the feeling strikes.

Now this little nugget called to me. There is a kernel in there for something greater than just the words. It is the essence of what we’d both like to accomplish with our business.

Red Alert! Red Alert! Internet Down! Oh NO!


As I sit here writing this without an Internet connection the gravity of the situation burns deeply to my core. Arrgh! Internet Down!It seems that all that I had planned to do today was online. I can’t post this blog. I can’t collect my email, do my social networking, advertise my network marketing business nor my lead generation system. The surf is definitely NOT up, dude!

The voice said… We are experiencing unusually high call volumes. Thank you for your patience. This call may be monitored for quality purpose. Please enter your 10 digit phone number associated with your Internet service. Your estimated hold time is 2 minute.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The announcement keeps telling me how I can resolve so many of the common problems by visiting the website. Just a trifle annoying. If I could visit your blasted website I wouldn’t be on hold listening to your stupid messages.

Click this, unplug that, set up a new client, run around the house twice. Of course everything seems to be active on their side. It’s never their fault. Interestingly, in the past when I have hung up with them my system miraculously comes back full strength.

Oh, wait, it IS on their side and they have to send a tech out. Grrrrreat! I’ll see you after some strange service guy comes over to look down his nose at me and poke around my house.

{Momentary Thought: Hmmm, if I had an evil mind I think I’d aim for disrupting the Internet to bring the world to its knees.}

Ah, if it is possible this gets even better.

Oh, sir, I just got a notification on my screen here that there was in fact an outage in your area.

Really? And, just when do you think it will be repaired??

That should be fixed by 3:15 PM today, sir. (It is now 11:30 AM).

By the way, the Internet was up and running before I left to see mom. Coincidence? Or truth is stranger than fiction? You be the judge.

The Phone Rang


The phone rang and I jump. I recognized it as a local number so I picked up. A woman’s voice on the other end asked for my wife. Sorry, she’s on an The Phone Rang!airplane somewhere between here and Toronto. Ah, you met at a Women’s Prosperity Network meeting. Is there anything I might assist you with?

Well, your wife, uh, was going to listen to me, help me with my phoning technique, make some suggestions to me. We were just going to talk about my business. You see, I got a referral lead and need some help to call them. I haven’t been real diligent about getting back to my referrals, had some health issues and my energy level seems to be down.

How long ago did you get the referral?

Well, it’s been… you see I haven’t been working the business a lot. It’s been a year.

I spent almost 45 minutes with this lady. She was ready to get her network marketing business going but didn’t have support from her upline, really did have some health issues and hadn’t a clue where to begin. She had great results on her product to start off with and got a couple of people under her, but then the mojo fizzled. She’s lucky because the people she has under her are excited about the product and the business.

What could I possibly do to assist this lady to get her on the right track? We did come up with a couple of concrete and measurable things she could do. We’re going to talk again when my wife gets back in town.

What would you have suggested? What measurable tasks would you have advised?
